You probably think you have since you have seen him appear so much on our social media!
Duke is a 5 Years 7 Months (male) Boxer / Mixed (short coat)
Way back when Duke was a puppy. Just for some facts, about 5-plus years ago! Can you imagine this guy? He finds an owner, they bond, they have their schedule, they love each other and then poof. It is all gone. This guy is left alone in a shelter.
Fast forward. He is trying his best, on his best behavior and then some stresses start to happen. He's not sure of his surroundings, he is pulled into two foster homes and he is a little picky about the dogs he is with... because, hey, you know, it takes time to settle in, sometimes weeks!
So, here he is in a boarding facility waiting for someone to give a hoot about his past and take a chance on him. Meaning let him take a chance on you. Don't you remember wanting new friends but you were protective of your heart so you were wary? It's him.
Please email eaplevergreen@eapl.com if you are an approved foster home and can foster him. If you are not yet one and would like to become one, you need to fill out a foster application at http://www.eapl.com (under volunteer).
Our post on our website:
From his sending shelter! Duke, is the sweet boxer mix dog at our shelter. Duke is about 5 1/2 years old and weighs 65 pounds. Duke was loved by an older gentleman from his puppyhood but unfortunately, Duke's older guardian passed away recently. The older gentleman had no family left to care for Duke, so a friend surrendered him to our shelter as a last resort. Duke has clearly been loved and taken care of as he is great with all people, including children. Duke is also great with other dogs, wagging and playing with each one. Duke loves to walk on a leash and is well-mannered, particularly for a bigger guy. Duke is looking for a welcoming family or individual that likes to walk and hike as well as sit and enjoy a good pet at a quiet time. No small dogs or cats because of his perceived prey drive. His ADOPTION fee is sponsored, (thank you to our generous donor.)
